Go Me! says I. Go where? says Me. Who knows, we smile, because who does? I may not know where I am taking myself, but I do know where I am (most of the time), and where I’ve been.
Where I am, is here, writing my 243rd post. This is where I was one year and one day ago, publishing my very first post about Gallivanting and Roses.
I have been on a grand journey, and still am on it. Yesterday, 28 October, was my first blog birthday. Will there be many more? Again, who knows?
But, again, what I do know is that I am here, on the unbirthday of my blog birthday, inviting you to share my enjoyment in this day, in this moment.
Draw near and enjoy my easy-care flowers, for all seasons, in a copper vase which has great sentimental value for me. It is one of two that belonged to my paternal grandmother and dates, I think, from the 1920s.
If you look very closely, you may find that I have cared so easily for my flowers that spiders have settled in and spun their way through the arrangement 🙂
You may also see little ribbons and little pictures like this…….
They are not new-fangled floral ornaments but bookmarks that I make using photos from some of my favourite posts.
As most of you, my blog readers, are also avid readers of ‘real’ books, I would love to thank you for being with me today by offering you the gift of one of my bookmarks. They are very simple and ordinary bookmarks, but if you would like to have this tangible memento of our journey together, you are welcome to email me, with your details, at kaahend@gmail.com. Tell me which bookmark you would like and I will do my best to send it your way as soon as I can.
Go Me and THANK YOU ALL for helping me to get to my first blog birthday.

I’m finally trying to catch up with all the reading – and find that I have missed your anniversary! Congratulations indeed! Of course you will go on blogging, you do it with love and thoughtfulness. The calm and serene language and the thoughts I love to read from you. I so much enjoy your thoughts and painting in words. please go on!
About your lovely bookmarks…I would happily use a monarch and remember you every time – if you would like to send one of them my way!
Thank you for your kind encouragement. I am so glad you are one of my faithful readers and that you find time for my words in your very busy life. I would love to send you a bookmark…have you sent me your address via email? I will check.

I am so glad you have been blogging this last year. Every post it is a treasure, and each time something different. I have learnt from you about paying attention to the little things that bring joy, and I love your photos, beautiful in their own right and chosen with care to fit your posts so well. And the memories – always a lovely reminder of the past. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, photos and memories. They mean a lot to me, and I hope your blog will continue through many more birthdays. xx
Thank you Travelling Kiwi for your kind words. It means a lot to me that, after all these years, we are still in touch and travelling along life’s pathways, more or less, together. And don’t forget it was your blog that gave me the courage to get started. 🙂
Happy belated Blog Birthday, love you and your blog , so I am looking for many more posts to come! What a wonderful idea with the beautiful book marks !
Thanks Ute. I am glad we are connected via the internet. If you want a bookmark you could message me on Facebook or through my email.
Nice going….and happy first birthday with many happy returns. Blogging requires real discipline I found as I very tentatively began a while back. But it is a pleasant habit and I’ve “met” so many interesting and friendly people from all over the world through it. You included:-)))
I am totally impressed with your swags of comments and how well you know your “public”!
Blog on please!
Thank you for the happy returns! I, too, am thrilled to have met so many people, you included! It has been very good for my brain, attempting to keep track of people’s stories and my own. It’s just a pity that the blogging workout for my brain doesn’t seem to help me locate my handbag or the carkeys etc.
Hmmm missing items…..I can relate. We have a designated hook for car keys and that seems almost (!) foolproof.
LOL; I would probably forget where the hook was! Not really, but some days are a bit like that!
🙂
Is it really only one year? I feel like I’ve known you a lot longer! Good job; love reading your interesting and at times amusing posts! Cath
Yes, an entire year! It does seem longer doesn’t it? I think that’s because we are in contact almost daily, which is probably more contact than we have with our extended family and close- by friends 😀
It definitely is – you’re right there. 🙂 Here’s to the next year!
Yes, I join in the ‘toast’.
YOU GO GIRL!! Happy blog birthday! I remember your first posts and am so happy and fortunate that you are now part of my life. You add a smile to my day with every post! Cheers to you and many, many more posts!
Cindy, your sweet smile has been there from the beginning! You have smiled on me 243 times! How about that? Well, I didn’t actually count but your smile always brightens my day.
Congratulations on your first birthday! You have learned to walk and now you’ll be able to run! I have thoroughly enjoyed this place where you bring us together – into it’s warmth and wonder – from all corners of life and literally from all corners of the earth. I look forward to many more birthday celebrations!
Awww; thank you! But, help, I didn’t think that I may now have to consider running!
In fact you are 🙂
No wonder I am puffing a bit then 😀
Gallivanta – Congratulations on your First Anniversary. It is definitely a milestone and I hope that it will be repeated for many years to come.
You inspire me.
Thank You and you inspire me ,too, with your dedicated blogging.
Happy blogging into next year…What an achievement – not just in terms of numbers of posts but you always manage to be upbeat, cheery and interesting. Blog on sister, blog on!
Thank you for your encouragement!
It has been fun riding the blog journey together…I hope there are many more memories to come my friend.
I hope so, and I am looking forward to more stories from you. I sure want to know which cowboy boots little man gets for Christmas!!!!!
Go YOU indeed!! I can tell it has been a grand journey. I can tell it has been a labour of love. Most of all, I can tell it has drawn hearts and minds together into this little wonderful space you have created. And that is indeed worth celebrating. The coming together of lives. Thank you for drawing us closer to kindness, joy and beauty. My warmest congratulations! And here’s to all that awaits. Much love, Sharon
Thank you Sharon. And, as I mentioned on your blog, it is lovely to have you close by (virtually) again, although I never felt you were very far away 🙂
Happy Blogiversary! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you over the past year. I’ve learned so much about New Zealand–and have been surprised how similar some of our interests are. I don’t know where you’re headed with this blog, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there will be another 243 posts. 🙂
I hope I last the distance. And, yes, it is fascinating to see how similar our interests are! Thank you for your good wishes and participation on my blog.
Congratulations! I love the arbor over the brick path.
Blessings ~ Wendy
Thank you. The Arbor will be covered in roses later in the year. It is part of a beautiful heritage rose garden.
congratulations on your blog birthday, Wow 243 How nice. It’s wonderful How you care your flowers, I’m sure they are very happy. looking forward to enjoy your post other years more
Thank you Silvana 🙂 It’s almost more fun than celebrating my own birthday!
🙂
Happy one year blogging. I am really happy to be part of your silkandthreades WordPress community. Looking forward to another great year of good reads 😀
Me too. And I enjoy your company and your wonderful insights into architecture and design.
Bravo! Happy blog birthday and thank you for sharing your wonderful stories and photos with us this past year!
And thank you for being a wonderful part of my blog experience 🙂
Wonderful – congratulations!
Thank you Ellen. You are one of my inspirations in the blogging world.
I second Heather: beauty and surprise!
and wonder and wisdom.
and I will “take” one of those bookmarks digitally please. because I’m a recovering postcards and papers hoarder gone cold turkey 😀
Thank you! And your digital take is an excellent idea 🙂 I second that. And I should go cold turkey too or become like our mutual friend *tg* and become a diligent scrapbooker.
I tried scrapbooking. it’s like a drug! 😀
Oh help!
*gloomy look*
I have two huuuuge boxes where I store my “scrapbooking and crafting” belongings, basically I’m prepared for any paper DIY and crafting idea out there. the boxes originally contained one huge fancy fake fur blanket each, to give you the size idea…
Wow!!!! which reminds me.. what happened to your well crafted assistant? Has she been boxed?
she will return! 😉
Yay!
Many congratulations on your blog’s first birthday and wishing you many more happy years of blogging. Well done on posting so much in a year.
Thank you, thank you. I suppose, as in life, so in blogging….it’s not how long we live, but how well we live 🙂
I love that walkway!
It’s lovely, isn’t it! It looks even better when it is covered in roses in the summer time.
Happy bday to G’s blog xD
Thank you. I thought you would send me a birthday song 😉
http://youtu.be/-hyJsoPosCE Happy belated bday haha
Ah, that’s better. Thank YOU. By the way, have you heard the latest singing sensation from New Zealand ? I am sure you have but this is what I am listening to right now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlcIKh6sBtc
good :D:D:D
Congratulations on your achievement! Your words and photos cheer my day 🙂
Thank you and Ditto 🙂
Congratulations!!
Thank you 🙂
Happy Blogbirthday!
I really have to commend you for being so consistent in your blogging. I never knew there was so much about another person’s home and surroundings that could be so interesting! And, as for my Martha Stewart comment…today is a perfect example of this.
Your arrangements are gorgeous! Probably nothing to you, but I just don’t imagine in that way and to be honest, I’m happy if mine at least look like they belong together. I have always considered flower arranging an art…one that I would like to be more skilled at…one of these days.
And, what a wonderful and thoughtful way to acknowledge your readership…bookmarks from your posts…of course, I want one! I’m off to work but will contemplate which one…so many great posts, it’s hard to choose…maybe the header which drew me to you in the first place…I’ll think on it and let you know.
Have an awesome day!
Thank you, thank you for your generous comments 🙂 Sadly, I am not the one who arranged these flowers, not all by myself anyway. This one required a florist’s input! We were working on maximum effect for minimum cost and to the colour scheme I wanted. I am happy you would like a bookmark. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be able to do the Header photo. I had a play with it some weeks ago because I thought it would be ideal for a bookmark; but the photo quality is too poor it seems. I can have another go at it if you would really like that one. Just let me know.
Wow, what an achievement! Congratulations and happy birthday to your blog!
Thank you 🙂 I wish you were here to make me one of your beautiful birthday cakes. I am sure you could put on a wonderful blog birthday party.
Happy blog birthday!
Your easy-care flower is so nice and well kept. With that I am not sure it is that easy care by the way 🙂 It is also funny that you mentioned about real books. I am wonder people will make eBookMark for eBooks one day. Please have a very happy unbirthday too!
Thanks for your good wishes. Actually, you are right; those flowers are quite hard to dust, so they are not easy, easy care 😀 And I bet someone already markets eBookMarks. I am going to check on Google just for fun.
Happy birthday blog, wishing you many happy returns and sincere thanks for being so nice to me 🙂
Thank you….your music keeps my blogging days happy 🙂
Congratulations on your blog birthday!! Your writing is such a gift and I have enjoyed having a new friend from around the world!
I’d love a bookmark but don’t want to break the bank by having you mail one to the USA. Let me know if it’s in your budget. (honestly!)
I am enjoying your friendship too 🙂 You are kind to consider postage but it won’t be too much at all, and I would love to think of my bookmark put to good use in one of your books ( or eventually lost in that mysterious land where bookmarks always lose themselves 😉 )
Sounds good. I’ll email you. 😉
I will look out for your email. This will be fun. I haven’t sent a letter to the US in ages.
Thank you so much for the invitation. Here I am celebrating your blog’s birthday with you. Hopping there will be many more for tomorrows and the years to come. Go You !!!
Thank you for being here! Your blog birthday came first so I will have to be respectful and call you my senior, wiser blog brother 🙂
I didn’t realize that our blogs were born on the same month. It is interesting, isn’t it. 😉
Yes, almost twins!
I just posted 163 while you did for the 243rd post. 😀
I talk too much! I am that little one in the family who won’t stop talking 🙂
I see. 😀
But you have written a lot of blog posts, considering you were away for some time with your surgery and recovery.
I wish I could post the 184th now, but some thing had happened again to me this morning that caused me unable to take pictures for my subject. Very bad bad b a d.
Oh dear. I am sorry to hear that. I am concerned.
Amazing to think it’s (only) been a year! Happy birthday to your lovely blog! I can’t imagine WP without your words, images and musings! It is a better place because you are here. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Best wishes xx
Yes, only a year! And thank you for your kind, kind words and best wishes. I can happily say the same about your blog 🙂 You have been one of my most faithful readers. Your dedication is awesome considering how busy you must be with your little ones.
It’s a pleasure to read your blog 🙂 Really lovely! All the best x
🙂
Happy 1st blog birthday on your blog unbirthday day! 243 posts in one year – that is seriously good going, definitely “Go You!!” 🙂
The number quite disturbs me! There are a few unpublished ones in the blog too. But what makes me really happy is that blogging has helped me to be a bit more organised with my photos; and I treasure them, both the good and not so good 🙂 Thank you for being part of the journey.
It is an interesting journey which I am enjoying 🙂
🙂
Oh absolutely it is worth celebrating!! Yours swiftly became one of my favorite blogs for many reasons, each a good one: beauty, truth and surprise! Here is to many more ahead, as long as you keep enjoying the process…
Thank you Heather. I am enjoying myself, too much, if that is possible. I loved your post today 🙂
What a lovely flower arrangement
Thank you but, for once, it is not one of mine!!!! I needed professional help to fill up that vase. 🙂
Happy blog birthday! Must feel good 🙂 and yes I say just keep going and don’t think about how long you intend to do it!
One blog post at a time! I am sure your words apply to house renovations too….be strong 🙂
I am so glad that we are on this journey together! We honour our existence by giving our voice a moment to resonate with every post and comment we make. I am celebrating and looking forward to another year of gallivanting.
“We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person.” W. Somerset Maugham
I am glad to have you alongside on the journey. I thought your Georgia O’Keefe quote was apt for my day, too.“Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It is what I have done with where I have been that should be of interest.”
Where would we be without creativity!!! 🙂
Indeed.
Happy unbirthday of your blog’s birthday Gallivanta 😀 xox
Thank you, loyal supporter and commentor and professor, Ralph.
You’re welcome 😀
Happy birthday, and yes, Go You!!!
The flowers are wonderful, and the triumph of this marker is worth celebrating!
Thank you. I wasn’t sure about marking it but blogging is a labour of love, so I thought “Why Not?” We need to celebrate our days, every one of them.
