Kitchen Chaos

There are some days, when I can’t seem to help making the most awful mess in the kitchen. Well……I don’t do it all on my own. I get a little help with the mess making from other household members, but that doesn’t make me feel any better about it.

What does make me feel a teeny bit  better is that, sometimes , something nice comes out of the chaos; like this lemon meringue pie

And this delectable, suitably messy looking, baked macaroni cheese

Now that you have had a chance to sample the goodies, do I have any volunteers to help with the dishes 🙂 ?  Thought not….but it was worth a try.   It’s just as well that most days I manage to cook without creating kitchen chaos, otherwise I might have to ban myself from kitchen….mmmm….I wonder………..

What about your spoon? And I am glad you bring your own because then you can take them home again to wash in your own sink 😀 You are my kind of guest.

I am sure you would be a wonderful friend in the kitchen. You would make cooking and baking and cleaning up so much fun. You could teach me to dance as we dried the dishes. How about that?

I think I’ll pass on those dishes – we just got back from a camping trip, and I feel like the camper and the house are all a disaster. I’m procrastinating on the chores by catching up on my blog world just now. But – a big YES to the lemon meringue pie for me! 🙂

Lemon meringue pie coming your way….next time I make one! I quite agree; the blogging world is far more agreeable than the world of the kitchen sink and the dirty camper. Did you have a lovely camping trip though?

Yes, but I finally had to cook another dessert today. I used up the remainder of the pastry and made, for the first time, an apple cream pie with a meringue topping. I couldn’t find an exact recipe so I adapted one from a banana cream pie.

Actually, the taste was fabulous but the texture of the apple cream wasn’t so great. I need to use more accurate measurements if I make it again.

Hooray; I am glad I am not alone in my ability to make a mess.I am sure your pot roast was worth all the chaos. Wish I could have sent you some of my lemon meringue pie to eat after your pot roast! Are you a fan of lemon pie?

Oh, that was close! I almost read this wonderful treat before dinner…much easier to look at all the goodies with my tummy full 🙂 Ps. if I keep it simple with something that bakes itself in the oven, I usually avoid the chaos in my kitchen, but when I have people coming over I always decide to make too many different things and that’s when I really mess up the kitchen. I trust you’ve done the dishes by now…

Dishes done! My kitchen looks more respectable. I am usually tidy but every now and then I seem to lapse in to mess. I think perhaps I was trying to do too many things at once 😦

If this food tastes as good as it looks I think the mess is more than worth it! I will be over in an hour – and yes I will wash those dishes!

My favourite story and gosh you made me smile mentioning it. We used to call my Grandmother The Little Red Hen because she was always so independent with a “I’ll do it myself” attitude. She was not messy in the kitchen like me 🙂
