There are some days, when I can’t seem to help making the most awful mess in the kitchen. Well……I don’t do it all on my own. I get a little help with the mess making from other household members, but that doesn’t make me feel any better about it.
What does make me feel a teeny bit better is that, sometimes , something nice comes out of the chaos; like this lemon meringue pie
And this delectable, suitably messy looking, baked macaroni cheese
Now that you have had a chance to sample the goodies, do I have any volunteers to help with the dishes 🙂 ? Thought not….but it was worth a try. It’s just as well that most days I manage to cook without creating kitchen chaos, otherwise I might have to ban myself from kitchen….mmmm….I wonder………..

Oh yummy. I have brought my knife and fork. Ralph xox 😀
What about your spoon? And I am glad you bring your own because then you can take them home again to wash in your own sink 😀 You are my kind of guest.
I will gladly help cleaning up your kitchen wiht a reward piece of Lemon meringue pie and some maccaroni cheese. It looks so delicious I could dig in now. You are such a great cook, I can learn lots from you! 🙂
I am sure you would be a wonderful friend in the kitchen. You would make cooking and baking and cleaning up so much fun. You could teach me to dance as we dried the dishes. How about that?
Haha that sounds fun! I can imagine it already! 🙂 ♫♫
Me too!
I think I’ll pass on those dishes – we just got back from a camping trip, and I feel like the camper and the house are all a disaster. I’m procrastinating on the chores by catching up on my blog world just now. But – a big YES to the lemon meringue pie for me! 🙂
Lemon meringue pie coming your way….next time I make one! I quite agree; the blogging world is far more agreeable than the world of the kitchen sink and the dirty camper. Did you have a lovely camping trip though?
Besides unseasonably cool temperatures, rain and hail – yes, it was rather nice. 😉
Sounds like you were camping down my way.
I will do the dishes everyday, mop the floors, and empty the kitty litter if I can eat your food!
YAY! Can I get you to walk the dog too? You would get some of my delicious brownies for that task. 🙂
I would gladly clean up your kitchen for a piece of that pie.
I am gathering an army of willing helpers. This is wonderful.
The lemon meringue pie great!
It was so very good. Thank you 🙂
Wow! what a delicious post! I think I am a bit too late for any helpings, but can assure you that I would have been happy to help with the dishes afterwards 🙂
I love a happy helper! I still have some leftover pastry. Enough to make another pie, so I will keep some of the next one for you.
You are so kind – thank you! 🙂
your mac & cheese and pie look fabulous! well worth a little tidying up in the kitchen! 😀
It was worth it, really. And with just two of us to eat the food, I haven’t had to cook for a few days; so freedom from mess and dishes!
Oh I LOVE making extra of everything that’s storable/fridge-able/freezable! Such a great feeling to have many meals from an afternoon’s work 🙂
Yes, but I finally had to cook another dessert today. I used up the remainder of the pastry and made, for the first time, an apple cream pie with a meringue topping. I couldn’t find an exact recipe so I adapted one from a banana cream pie.
wow! that sounds fabulous! 🙂
Actually, the taste was fabulous but the texture of the apple cream wasn’t so great. I need to use more accurate measurements if I make it again.
Well I can certainly relate to chaos in the kitchen. We spent a big portion of yesterday afternoon making quiet a mess cooking a pot roast and side dishes…sigh. Thanks for making me feel better.☺
Hooray; I am glad I am not alone in my ability to make a mess.I am sure your pot roast was worth all the chaos. Wish I could have sent you some of my lemon meringue pie to eat after your pot roast! Are you a fan of lemon pie?
Sounds good to me, you cook and I clean 🙂
I like cooperative efforts in the kitchen!
Yes! Lol
Oh, that was close! I almost read this wonderful treat before dinner…much easier to look at all the goodies with my tummy full 🙂 Ps. if I keep it simple with something that bakes itself in the oven, I usually avoid the chaos in my kitchen, but when I have people coming over I always decide to make too many different things and that’s when I really mess up the kitchen. I trust you’ve done the dishes by now…
Dishes done! My kitchen looks more respectable. I am usually tidy but every now and then I seem to lapse in to mess. I think perhaps I was trying to do too many things at once 😦
I am happy to clean the mess for a piece of that pie 🙂 Annie
And I am happy to serve you pie. Goodness, so many are liking my pie, I think I need to make another one. A bigger one 🙂
If this food tastes as good as it looks I think the mess is more than worth it! I will be over in an hour – and yes I will wash those dishes!
Elephant
Yay, another helper. You can have an extra big serve of pie.
Could you have come up with two more naughty comfort foods? Lemon pie! Thank you! I’m just a little late, but I will be there very soon – I wish!
Elephant
Naughty? Why never …;)
At least you are rewarded with the fruits of your labors, which are obviously dishes you enjoy.
I was rewarded. I love lemon meringue pie at this time of the year when the lemons are so fresh and good.
My favourite pie!!! You reminded me of the story of “The Little Red Hen.” Who will help me plant, water, cut the wheat, take it to the mill, bake the bread…..how about eat the bread???
I so enjoy your posts….
My favourite story and gosh you made me smile mentioning it. We used to call my Grandmother The Little Red Hen because she was always so independent with a “I’ll do it myself” attitude. She was not messy in the kitchen like me 🙂
Hmm, with these great looking pie and dishes. I will do the cleaning up with smile 🙂
Would you? Wonderful! You can dine with me anytime. Breakfast, lunch or dinner 🙂
Here you get tasty food, I stay here.Sincerely Andrea

Oh yes, the lemon meringue pie will go beautifully with your morning coffee.
